Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. As a hospice chaplain I have sat by the side of dying clients. Death is a process and this book is very enlightening as to what is going on inside the person,physically and spiritually. I did not give g booklet five stars because it really needs to be re-written. There are places where it is disjointed and words seem to be missing.
While I felt the book had good information, it also felt that the author was angry at the family surrounding the dying person. I question a few of the statements like the patients had to go through a “life review”. I could have interpreted that from my on feelings. But does it happen for everyone? Wish I could say the writer left me feeling more confident, she did not. One person found this helpful.
It may seem biased for me to write this as Mary Beth is my mother in law. I read this as soon as she was done with it. I didn’t fully understand it all until my own dad was dieing. My dad went to the hospital for pneumonia. It was time to send him to hospice. He went to hospice later that evening. It was a short booklet, but it is VERY detailed. It’s a must read! This is very helpful book. It has taught me a lot. Was well worth the money. Took me less than half an hour to read, but gives a good overview of the stages of death and what to expect.
This is a very informative, no-nonsense guide to understanding what to expect when a loved one is in Hospice. The author seemed both caring and knowledgeable.
