An excellent story that seems a bit odd at first [the type of work the main character is involved in], though it begins to make sense. But one that may not be obvious is Dorothy and Siskin as paralleling the Operator and Jinx. The book is simmulacron-3 very political and it was interesting to see that aspect addressed as well.

It is far too crude and imperfect to exhibit a one-thousandth part of the purposive independent behavior of the human being. And time is running out. In this way, Sim3 is really a ‘sins of the father’ type of story, but with fate and technology playing the bad guys.
